Could someone explain how I would bill for the following scenarios?
both collected by the surgeon, final reports by the pathologist

A- Station 7 lymph node aspiration, 1 pass, 1 slide, immediate evaluation-adequacy performed by a cytotechnologist

B- Left lung biopsy, 2 smears, immediate evaluation-adequacy performed by a cytotechnologist

Thanks!

Hello tiffanyprice
You may bill 88173x2 on the Professional side from your information provided within your post.
You may bill 88173x2 on the technical side along with 88172x2 for the cytotechnologist's work for immediate evaluation. (For B - with two smears it doesn't state the adequacy here, so I'll assume both were deemed okay).
Thanks,
Dana
