Does anyone have an idea what the "hidden" MUE is for 86317 for Medicare? We've billed it with 23 units, and 30 units etc. based on the tests done thru the lab. Medicare denies it every time stating 'it has been determined the units of service are in excess of the medically reasonable daily allowable frequency.'

How exactly should multiple units of 86317 be billed? Is it only one unit? Are the units split on separate lines? Help!! I cannot find any reference information anywhere.

If Medicare is stating that the number billed exceeds the allowed units, send in documentation, orders and labs to support that you actually did that many serotypes. The MUE is unpublished and unavailable to the public.
