I'm new to hospital coding. I work in a brand new specialty surgery hospital. How do I code implants? Previously, I used HCPCS codes in an ASC for implants. However, here there is a question as to whether implants are coded or simply charged out as supplies.

Please advise.

Implants usually should be coded and the HCPCS are required for some Medicare payments. The HCPCS usually are hooked to the supply charge through the charge description master file.
