I know a provider that is moving offices, they have an in-office lab for drug screens. CLIA certified etc. They are considering leaving the lab at the old office, do the draw at the new office, and process the labs at the old location. Does anyone have any resources or insight on if these have to be billed out differently? Do they have to be run on the same day/same location, or is this plausible to keep the lab at the old location?

Hi there, it is certainly possible for a practice to use an off-site lab. Whether the test has to be run on the same day will depend on whether the practice where the specimen is drawn is able to store it. Because the lab is CLIA certified I would suggest reaching out to the lab's director.
