I have a question and would appreciate the help. I work for a Rheumatology group and we have a rounding system with another Rheumatology group for in-patient consultations and observations (we bill different tax IDs).
For in-patient consults that group A (Other group) saw as a new patient days 1-5 of admission then Group B (my group) takes over care days 6-10, would Group B bill out a New patient consult on Day 6 as they have never seen this patient?

Not necessarily...I can't imagine that they would meet the requirements for a consult--the first of which is that a consult was requested. I understand that there was a request initially, but that would have been fulfilled by Group A. Without any other info, I'd say that your providers in Group B are likely limited to subsequent care.
