Our PA saw a patient in the hospital as a consult. (I know with Medicare we can't use consult codes). The physician didn't see the patient that day but saw the patient the next day and did a short summary to back up the visit by the PA the previous day. Do I charge the patient's visit under the PA or the doctor? Does the short summary note have to be on the same day as the PA admits? Or is the next day ok then we can charge it under the doctor?
 
You will need to bill under the PA. Incident-to doesn't apply in facility and split shared needs to have MD do a substantial portion on the E&M that day.
