How should an in-patient visit be billed for a Mediare patient, when a specialist is asked to see patient for the first time and they are not the admitting doc?

The specialist would bill his/her initial visit of 99221-99223 depending on the documentation, with the admitting provider billing the same 99221-99223 with the AI modifier.

hope this helps!
