I am in need of some help. My question is: Can a hospitalists charge for a subseqeunt visit and prolonged care on the day of discharge if they have been acting as the attending physician during the entire stay or do they need to bill for the discharge of over 30 minutes only? My coding expertise says that they should be coding for the discharge code. Can you guide me to the CMS site that would give me that information? Any and all help is appreicated and thank you in advance.
