I have two questions. I hope I word this right.

The company I work for is proposing a new program that will offer obesity counseling to youth. Who can use code G0473, or G0447? Can medical assistants or RNs use them? Do they qualify to perform these non physician practicioner services?

Second question. My company would hire the personnel. The people we hire would do the work for the medical group. We would pay the personnel and the medical group would reimburse us for the salary. Is that allowed?

Thanks for your help. Hope this wasn't too confusing.

Your practice should consider hiring a registered dietitian as the most qualified healthcare professional to provide this service. See Healthcare Business Monthly Dec 2014 page 15 which specifically addresses dietetic practitioners and Healthcare Business Monthly April 2015 page 9 for details on coding/billing.Linda Tonyes RDN, LDN, CPC-A
