If a suregeon seperate from our practice does a procedure on a patient in the hospital and then our physician does the intitial inpatient visit, can I bill for the initial visit? Does the surgeon only bill for his actual procedure that day?

Thanks for any help that may be given!!!!!

Usually that's the way it goes, unless the two providers make other arrangements. You bill for your provider's services (the initial inpatient visit) while someone else will bill for the other provider's service (the surgery).

Hope that helps. :)
