Hello All: Question: Can you bill for an initial observation visit on the same day the patient delivers?

I would say no. What is the circumstance? Did the physician provide antepartum care? The only exception I heard for billing an observation with the delivery is if the labor is greater than 24 or 48 hours (I can't remember which) and if the delivery were induced, and if the physician was the individual who induced. Otherwise it's considered bundled. If anyone has heard otherwise I'd like to know too. :)

I believe not enough information has been provided in order to make an accurate decision.

My initial reaction would be no, I believe you need to ask more questions or give us more information in regards to the chain of events in order to make that determination.
