Wiki Initial, Subsequent, or Sequela Encounter in Chiro

Any help would be great. My chiros are having some problems with the understanding on Initial, Subsequent, or Sequela Encounter. From what I have read when a patient goes to the ER and then comes to us for the same problem for additional active treatment this would still be Initial? As long as we are still treating for that first active treatment it would be initial. Subsequent states after the active phase of treatment, which is my mind is when the patient has finished with the treatment for the first active treatment and is coming back for maintenance. Sequela is when a patient has been put in PRN status and comes back a year later for back pain from the accident they where in. Looking at a few articles they all seem to agree that its A until patient is no longer progressing and then it becomes maintenance where it becomes a D.
