I have a question. I have a patient I would like to do an injection on but the medicine is very expensive. I am contracted with Cigna but Cigna will only pay 50% of what I bill them. Can I bill the patient for the medicine instead of billing Cigna? I know if I bill Cigna, I have to write off the other 50%.

no you are a contracted provider and in your contrat somewhere it states that for covered services you accept their fee schedule, you may collect from the patient only what is allowed by the payer.
