I have a podiatrist that uses an injection mixture of 3 different medication: lidocaine, marcaine, and kenalog. He draws this up himself in 1-1-1 ratio to equal 2 cc. Does anyone know what J code should be used for this injection?
Kenalog is the only medication you can bill for. HCPCS code J3301. The code is per every 10mg injected. The provider should state how many mg or l or cc of the kenalog he used. ml and cc mean the same. The actual kenalog bottle may state is contains 1mg/ml. In which case, if the provider injected 1ml/cc, then he injected 1mg or 1 unit for billing purposes. Hope this helps you.
