Can anyone tell me if injection code 64640 can be used for cortisone injections? CPT says it is for "Destruction by Neurolytic Agent". I googled "neurolytic agents" and steroids were not included. We have had insurance pay it, but I would prefer to use the correct code if that is not it.

Cortisone is not a neurolytic agent and the 64640 would not be appropriate. Before anyone can advise you on the correct code, where is the cortisone being injectd, and for what reason.
