Does anyone know what code to use for this procedure? I only see unlisted code.
 
Per CPT Assistant, December 2004; Volume 14: Issue 12, "no specific CPT code accurately describes an injection snoreplasty; therefore, code 42299, Unlisted procedure, palate, uvula, should be reported." As this is an unlisted code, the article reminds you to "submit supporting documentation (eg, procedure report) along with the claim to provide an adequate description of the nature, extent, need for the procedure, and the time, effort, and equipment necessary to provide the service."However, payers such as Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield regard the procedure as “not medically necessary for the treatment of snoring alone” and “investigational for the treatment of OSA [obstructive sleep apnea].” Consequently, they do not cover the service per Policy Number: 07.01.41.
