i am auditing inpatient Em visits
i came across with the encounter where date of admission and discharge is same but both admitting and discharge physicians are different and of different speciality ..
can i use initial visit code 99221-99223/ 99218-99220 to admitting physician
and discharge codes 99238/39 or 99217 to physician who discharged patient
OR do i have to assign same day admit and discharge codes 99234-99236
one more question what if admitting and discharge physician are of SAME SPECIALITY ??
