Can anyone help me understand how when my doctor is called in to consult at the hospital how i should be coding this consult? I'm truly confused...Please help!!!!:confused:
 
For Medicare it will be the initial hospital codes with no modifier. Other payers you will need to verify if they want consult codes or not. Also if Medicare is secondary you will have to make a choice to submit as Medicare wants or as the primary will pay.
