Can anyone tell me the best way to determine if a psychiatric code or an E&M code should be used for an inpatient psychiatric visit when both psychiatric and E&M services were provided at the same visit? I was all set to use the psychiatric codes when I started thinking that E&M codes would include psychiatric ROS. Are there any good references I could use for provider education? Thank you!
