Hi,
Serial casting is a common procedure used by physiotherapists to stretch the calf muscle of the leg. Serial casting is commonly done after Botulinum Toxin injections, when the muscle is relaxed; Serial casting refers to the process of placing one or both of child's ankles into a cast over a period of one to six weeks. The physiotherapist may ask you to remove the cast after 5 days, allowing your child to walk without a cast for a day or two, before a second cast is re-applied. Child will be provided with cast boots or
shoes to wear over the cast to allow them to stand or walk in the casts once dry.
Possible codes:
Application of a short leg cast (below knee to toes) – 29405;
If the provider applies a fiberglass short leg cast - Q4038; cast boot - L4386;
However, Q codes are not covered for inpatient services.
Also, recasting considered bundled usually-
So may try billing CPT 29405 aditionally to E/M code and can append a 25 modifier perhaps.
