In critical access hospitals can a patient be discharged from inpatient and admitted to the emergency room. We had a inpatient that started having chest pain the provider was unable to get to the hospital at that time so asked the ed provider to see the patient instead of comming to the medical floor to see the patient the ed provider had them bring the patient to the ed. This patient was transfered with a stemi.

there was an order written by the nurse to discharge from acute care to the emeregency room, in talking to the provider that was not his intent he just wanted the patient care for.
