Pt was admitted on 2/10. On 2/11, the admitting dr states "mom wants to change medical coverage service for patient and is subsequently being transferred to the care of the medicine blue team." at the end of the note, dr says "i will be transferring pt's care today following pt's request throught patient care representative to transfer service". Pt has medicaid. The new physician (nephrology) is billing for a consult. In the h&p, nephrology was not consulted even thought pt has working ckd. shouldn't this be billed as 99231-99233 instead of consult?
