Can we bill for an inpatient admission and closed fx treatment? Pt was admitted for fx, dizziness, history of fall. After review of films, ortho decided conservative treatment was best with an overnight stay. PT/OT eval and discharge to nursing home the following day. Can I bill for the admission and the fx care? or just the fx care?

You can bill for both, initial visit with MD and fracture care. The fracture care is the 90 global period where patient will follow up with your MD or practice for treatment and follow-up on the fracture. If your MD has no intention of following this patient's care, then fracture care code is not appropriate. Hope this helps.
 
It does help. We usually see closed fx care in the office and if they've been to the ER, we don't bill for E/M. Just wasn't familiar with whether or not an admission would be allowed with the billing or not. Thank you!
