Patient underwent procedure including valve implantation and all the work included in the CPT description of the procedure. However, the valve did not work well and, during the same procedure, the valve was retrieved back into the catheter and removed from the body.

There didn't seem to be any other good option, and the procedure was concluded without a valve left in place as had been the plan.

So the valve implantation was performed, but the result was not good and the valve was removed prior to the end of the procedure.

Is it appropriate / or reasonable to bill for the procedure that was done, namely valve implantation, even though the patient did not end up with a valve in place?
