Wiki Insurance Denials- Adjacent Tissue Transfers

Hello! Has anyone received any Insurance denials on Adjacent Tissue Transfers for provider type not authorized? I had gotten some information from a Medicare representative who stated that Dermatologists and/or Certified MOHs Surgeons are not authorized to perform Adjacent Tissue Transfers (CPT 14000, 14020, 14040, 14060 & 14301), yet I cannot find a published policy that states this information. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks so much!

I also billed for adjacent tissue transfers for dermatologists and in 4 years never heard of such a thing. I think you've been given incorrect information. A provider rep is not qualified to say what is or is not within the scope of a physician's practice and if they cannot direct you to where this is in writing, then I would escalate the issue to a higher level.
