Please help resolve a problem we are having in our office. An infusion of Remicade is being done using a Insyte Autoguard . The codes being billed are as followed:
96413
96415
36415
J7050
The 36415 is being used because the nurse states it represents the stick for inserting the IV and sometimes for lab draws after the infusion using the IV. I disagree because I feel for the infusion the stick is included in the 96413 and if they are drawing blood from the IV then that is also included in the infusion.

I would not code a lab draw for inserting an IV.
There are a few codes for obtaining specimens from Implanted devices or catheters.
Take a look at CPT code 36592.
Per CPT this code cannot be reported with any service except for a laboratory service.
