When surgeron excises a benign skin cyst from a scalp and closes the skin with 5 interrupted 4-0 nylon sutures , does it qualify for intermediate repair ?
 
No, an intermediate repair requires a layered closure or heavily contaminated wounds requiring extensive cleaning.

Interrupted sutures are individual stitches that are tied off and are not connected. They take longer to perform but if one suture fails, the wound edges have a better chance of staying together.
