Wiki Internal doctors doing medical pre-screening for detox admit

Our hospitalists do a pre-screening for all detox admissions. We have been coding these as admission codes (99221 mostly), however, we keep getting denials that it is a non-covered service when performed by this type of doctor. Does anyone have any insight as to what code is the correct code that should be used?
