Hello fellow coders/auditors,
I am interested in getting some opinions on this thought.

For a practice that has never done a full internal audit. Do you feel it would be most effecient to hire an outside auditor to do your first Random baseline audit? I feel like having a current coder do the internal audit there may be some aggression in the audit. And having an external audit will provide not only an un-biased audit but also a good foundation for the internal auditor to move forward with those initial audit findings and begin more focused audits.

I couldn't agree with you more. Even if continuing forward your practice utilizes an internal auditor, it is always a good recommendation for risk management reasons and many others to have an outside auditor perform a baseline and then annually. In between your internal auditor can perform them monthly or quarterly.

Good Luck :)
