Hi all,

can we consider Interpretation of telemetry under MDM (table B) Independent Visualization of image, tracing or specimen (2 points).

I would not count the review of telemetry under "Independent Visualization" on the data table and here's why. As defined under the Cardiography guidelines section of the CPT (93000-93042) "There must be a specific order for an electrocardiogram or rhythm strip followed by a separate, signed, written and retrievable report. It is not appropriate to use these codes for reviewing the telemetry monitoring strips taken from a monitoring system." In order for your provider to perform an independent review of a tracing, there must be a previous interpretation and report by another physician. There would not be a previous interpretation and report for a telemetry strip under the guidelines mentioned, there would have to a formal ECG report in order to qualify.

I hope that helps :)
