Wiki Interstim Modifiers?

Hi -

I have a weird issue with my Interstim claims.... The last month or so, they're denying the 64561 with one unit billed saying incorrect modifier. Since it's the primary code, the only possible modifier I can see is -50 - but they only test both sides but ultimately implant on one side - so I question the appropriateness of that modifier.

Any thoughts?

In my experience, for 64561, we bill -50 if bilateral and if unilateral, then -RT or -LT.

That is how I handle as well - modifier -50 for the PNE & anatomical modifier for the perm implant.
