Hi,
In place of an interval history for a subsequent inpatient visit, can a physician use HPI elements as they would for any other type of visit or must it be interval?

Thanks!
Kathleen

For inpatient services and other similar situations it's not necessary to ask the patient about the PFSH every day. So a Past, Family or Social history does not need to be documented since it's not going to change from the previous day. You would only use HPI & ROS to get your History level for that date and not include the PFSH component.
