Is anyone billing an Intraoperative TEE with the TAVR procedure? I am billing 93318P and receiving rejections from Medicare as not medically necessary. This is appropriate per the policy, but I'm wondering if I could bill 93312P since they are preoperatively diagnostic as well. The policy portion for "Diagnostic Intraoperative TEE" is not very clear. Any input will be appreciated. Thanks
 
I have a print out from Mcare about TAVR procedures

"All surgical services and Aortography and Echocardiography are considered part of the TAVR procedure and are not separately reimbursable."

I can fax it to you, if you like. It has some other info.
