Hello,

I am new with billing Medicare and know that S0020 is consider "invalid" or non-covered for Medicare. Any suggestions on an alternative code that may be appropriate for Medicare? The physician performed the following:

99214
20610
J1030
S0020
J2001

Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

you cannot bill the lidocaine when giving an injection to any payer. it is considered part of the injection and not separately reimbursable. The other way they state it is that it is non essential to the reason for We add those drugs to make the patient more comfortable and not for medical necessity. So really the payers do not care if the patient is comfortable while receiving the medication.
