Does anyone have thoughts or experiences to share regarding ACEP's extensive list of FAQs for applying the E/M guidelines for MDM in the ED setting? Is anyone having any specific pushback from payers when citing these as support for documentation supporting the level of service? Has anyone found similar (free) resources from any other specialty?

I didn't read through it all carefully, but did look at their MDM grid. I didn't see anything that would contradict information on the AMA resources. They just tried to provide examples and info that was most relevant to the ED.
Remember that in any of these tools, the examples are just that - examples. No tool could possibly address every scenario. I look at the examples given and determine which one is closest to my situation. Sometimes it is very black and white. And sometimes there's a lot of gray. In the gray areas is where things like specialty society advice can really help guide you. The only other tool that I have seen and use is the NAMAS one. They provide some specific examples for low and straightforward risk that is not on the AMA guide. It is available for free from NAMAS, but I think you have to sign up and then can download (or maybe they email). But it definitely was free when I obtained it directly from NAMAS.
