Can someone help me with this ? Code G0463 for hospital outpatient clinic visits. Is this code for patients with Medicare only ? I'm taking a practice test for the COC and the question involves a 35 year old who went to an evening clinic. Code G0463 is the correct answer according to the test. The question does not state the patient is on Medicare.

Its because of the Type of Test you are studying for - Its all Outpatient Hospital Coding with COC.

As an outpatient hospital facility, There are two types of emergency departments:
Type A - available 24/7 - Visits to a Type A emergency department are billed with 99281-99285
Type B - dedicated emergency department - Visits to a Type B emergency department are billed with G0380-G0384
Hospital outpatient clinic visits for assessment and management are billed with G0463.

Temporary G codes are assigned to services and procedures that are under review before being included in the CPT coding system. Payment for these services is under the jurisdiction of the local carriers, they can be for all Payers really.
