Hello hoping someone can help me out with a wound care note.
Provider documents: He has gangrenous right 1st toe. I think it is a combination of ischemia and infection in that right foot and ankle at this time.
In the Impression is: "Ischemic, infected right first toe wound with increasing pain".
My question is: Is Ischemic automatically considered Arterial insufficiency?
Im thinking the correct codes are: DX 440. 24 (Atherosclerosis of the extremities with gangrene) and 893.1 (complicated wound), 729.5 (Pain in limb) or am I totally off base here! I am new to wound care coding and it's driving me crazy! Thank you in advance
