Hi, I just want to get another opinion on this because I have not been able to find any documention to support it.

If the nurse documentation indicates a start and stop time for a drug that lasts longer than 15 minutes would you code it as an Infusion? The nurses are saying that they are giving long duration pushes but there is nothing in the documentation to support that except the start and stop times....which indicated an Infusion.

If an IV push goes longer than 15 minutes do you report an Infusion?

Thanks!

You are right.

There is no long duration push. You would code according to the documentation that supports it.

15 minutes or less is an IVP
16 minutes or more is an infusion
