We starting billing for an anesthesiologist and he said that they would bill out a $30.00 charge for starting the IV along with billing the anesthesia for the procedure. I was under the impression the starting of the IV was included. Is there a code for starting the IV?

Hi there, if the IV is the method for administering anesthesia (either for the surgery or post-op pain management) you are 100% correct. Payment for that work is included in the anesthesia service.
