Hi all

Wanted to get some feedback from others on this.

We typically bill our IVF procedures with a N97.X code, but it was brought to our attention that perhaps a Z31.X or other Z code could be used to bill the IVF procedure.
We have found that the N code had better reimbursement even if it is N97.9 compared to a Z code.
We have infertile patients which is why we lean on the N code more.

Do you use the same? Something different?

Hi🥚
I never use Z dx code UNLESS it is considered first dx code...see ICD10 manual. Use dx z code as last dx code. Insurance payers do not like this as first dx code unless regular first listed Z dx code.(ie Z01, Z53.11) Always try to use definitive or symptom dx codes first. The dx code looks fine N97 but each patient is different which is defined by provider s documentation..
I hope helped you with this little tidbit!

Hi, well it depends what they have documented in the note. I have used both. Z31.83 is one that comes to mind.
