Question on non-coronary IVUS...I understand, in 2016, that the primary code for 37252, 37253 can be an angiography, specifically 36005. When looking in the CPT book under 37253; however, 36005 is not listed in the list for approved base (primary) codes. Why is this?

36005 is your catheter code, or in this case, access site. Then you need either an imaging code, what did the doctor look at or intervention performed. Then IVUS could be performed either before or after the venogram/intervention.
