My question is the number of units should be used and can we code J3301 more than once with 20610. How would this be coded including units
  • Triamcinolone-40, 40mg/1mL : 60 mg (Dose No:1) (Route: Intraarticular) on Knee, Left (Pain in left knee)
  • Triamcinolone-40, 40mg/1mL : 60 mg (Dose No:2) (Route: Intraarticular) on Knee, Right (Pain in right knee)
I was told to code J3301 x 3 on separate lines with 4 units each.
 
Code J3301 is per 10mg, so if 40, it would be 4 units per side. If 60, it would be 6 units per side.
My experience if to place them all on the same line with the total number of units adding the LT/ RT modifier to the 20610.
