I am hoping I haven't been coding Alzheimers incorrectly. Unless the provider has specifically documented Alzheimers Dementia, we code Alzheimer's as 331.0 without the 294.1x dementia code. The ICD 9 directions say to use additional code to identify dementia. The article has us wondering if you add the 294.1xdementia code whenever you use the 331.0 code, even without dementia being mentioned.

We appreciated the article and hope to have some direction.
