Need help with OB postpartum, Please...
Is treatment with meds for postpartum deppression included in the postpartum visit, ie; 59430? What about IUD insertion? Pt came for postpartum visit and decided to get an IUD. Is that elegable for a separate E&M? with mod -25? -24? Thanks SOO much...

OB PP IUD/depression

YES-bill for the IUD insertion, and I believe a seperate E/M is warranted too-postpartum depression is a complication, not part of normal PP care so I think it's separately billable. The IUD insertion will need a 24 modifier since patient in global period for the delivery.
 
Do you know where I can get a definitive answer?.. I have looked all over the internet. My supevisor thinks the postpartum depression is included. I agree with you that it is a complication, just need it in writting...Thank You again...very much
