Medical Billing Coding Specialist (Hendersonville) Position Title: Medical Billing Coding Specialist (Hendersonville, TN)
This full-time position serves in a management capacity, handling all day to day operations for a growing primary care medical practice.
Reports to: Practice Manager
Billing Specialist, Medical Coder and Biller Job Purpose: Coding and billing of medical charges as well as collecting reimbursements from various payers and patients. Resolving payment discrepancies, adjusting patient bills, generating patient statements, resolving patient inquires and preparing financial reports.
Duties: Coding and submission/review of medical charges electronically and by paper. Reviewing electronic transmission report daily resolving any errors. Provide coding support for physicians to ensure optimal reporting. Data entry of payment and review of EOB for payment accuracy. Resolving any disputed claims by gathering, verifying and providing additional information or appeals. Continual follow up of outstanding claims and patient accounts. Generating monthly patient statements. Handle patient account pre-collection. Forwarding patient accounts to collection agency. Prepares monthly reports summarizing billings, adjustments, and revenues received. Coding special projects that insurance companies request. Respond to patient needs including but not limited to medical records processing and patient inquiries. Participate in EMR training on an ongoing basis. Attend meetings as assigned and report back to Practice Manager. Stay current with reimbursement regulations, coding changes and all things related to medical practice operations. Prepare paperwork related to medical practice management such as credentialing and pre-existing reviews. Maintain strictest confidentiality.
Skills/Qualifications: Completion of coding/billing program, Certified Professional Coder preferred, balance figures, math skills, computerized spreadsheets, time management, organization, attention to detail, quality focus, productivity, thoroughness, deadline oriented, drafting correspondence, internal communications, reporting skills, Must be professional, detail oriented and committed to excellence/highest quality in billing, coding and medical care. Strong spelling, grammar and composition abilities, Professional correspondence and reporting formatting skills, Word, Excel experience, Good telephone phone voice, Maturity to handle stressful situations and work with a sense of urgency, Comfortable with communicating with patients, insurance companies, and collections agency, Able to Communicate well with patients, physicians, nurses, practice manager, vendors such as lab companies, representatives, Strong interpersonal skills
