Wiki JZ Modifier

Hello everyone,

I know that the new JZ modifier started taking place on July 1st, however, we are stuck on if this would apply to contrast codes A9579, and Q9967. I see edits where the JW is ok for these two codes, but nothing in regards to if the JZ would need to be applied. Does anyone have any literature on it?

My understanding is any medication that comes in a single-use vial is subject to this policy. In our office, contrast isn't a single use vial, but if it did, I would use the modifiers.

is the JZ modifier then just specific to Medicare and should not apply to commercial plans?
