A physician and I are trying to figure out if he can bill for an office visit prior to a pts kyphoplasty? We are under the impression you can bill for one or the other, and not both, as both will not get reimbursed. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!!
 
There is a global package that includes the H&P/visit prior to surgery and any follow up visits up to 10 days post surgery for the Kyphoplasty.
 
This is probably not the visit for the decision for surgery, but if it is... Modifier -57 Decision for Surgery, appended to the office/hospital visit code would be applicable.
