Just wanting to confirm about laceration repair - simple laceration, code 12001: I believe it is ok to bill this if the repair is done with sutures, staples, dermabond, but what about steri-strips?

We conducted a simple (0 - 2.5) laceration repair procedure on the hand. Applicable diagnosis: 882.0-Open Wound Hand No Finger Alone W/O Mention Comp. The laceration involved the following elements: subcutaneous tissue. Prepared for the procedure by cleaning with hibicleanse. Wound was 1 cm long and closed with 4 steristrips and Benzoin. Instructions were provided to the patient as documented elsewhere. Patient's wound was cleansed post-operatively with gauze. Patient tolerated the procedure well.

Should this be just an E&M code? Thanking you in advance.

closure

This should be just the E/M code. The steri strips are an adhesive strip. CPT states that wound closure utilizing adhesive strips as the sole repair material should be coded using the appropriate E/M code.
