suppose it was a standard lap chole (w or w/o grams), no complications, the only thing is the pt is pregnant. does this constitute the use of mod 22? i wouldn't think it would since everything i've read indicates that the surgery is safe for both mom and baby. seems like it should just be 47562(3), dx for the lap chole, and dx for pregnancy status. one of my md's is asking me about this and i'd like more input from other coders before i respond.

how have others handled this in the past? or does anyone have any documentation on this subject?

many thanks!
