I have a bowel surgery that started as a laparoscopic procedure and converted to open. During the laparoscopic procedure I had, the splenic flexure take-down was completed then we did the bowel resection as open. Per CMS guidelines, open codes are used, my question is, would the splenic flexure take-down be coded as open or not coded at all?
